My Last Day in Amsterdam

The morning started out with some rain but around 11 it became sunny and warm.  I decided to take the free ferry to the Central Station. It was about a twenty-minute walk but a short ride.

Guess who was on my ferry……..yup……Sadie reincarnated with a tail (must be that fairy dust).

I took a nice walk thru the Jordan district and did the Anne Frank House.  It was awesome.

I had to have a pancake/crepe breakfast– yummy.  The coffee is growing on me.

Here are some pictures from around that Jordan area:

I took the electric tram to visit the modern art museum– it was nice but no Picasso or Andy Warhol.  I then took a walk thru the red light district which is pretty tame during the day to the “old church”.  This is a Catholic Church and there was an art exhibit going on in the church.  Three hundred thirty gold blankets to represent immigrants who sometimes only have a blanket.

There was a building around the corner that had a hidden church in the attic (4th floor) because Catholic Churches were banned.

After all that sightseeing I need to have a noodle bowl.  Went to a wok restaurant where you made up your own version—- really yummy.

I leave for Bruges, Belgium in the morning.  I’m looking forward to a rest on the train ride.  It should take about four hours with a 50 minute stop in Antwerp—just enough time to have lunch.  I got to like Amsterdam the more I got to know my way around.  I’m sure it must be an amazing city at night with 50 miles of canals.   I never got used to how crowded it is and I won’t miss those darn bikes a bit.
