All About Antalya and On To Cappadocia

Day 6 started with a full day of sights( and sounds: calls to prayer) in the beach city of Antalya. The climate is warm to hot and hotter about 9 months of the year. We never made it to the beach so a return is needed.

We did get to explore the city and some beautiful waterfalls. The area is surrounded by mountains that lend a magical dimension to this city. It is on the Aegean Sea and is a busy tourist destination.

Lower Duden Waterfall

Saw some pretty parakeets that were tourist attractions.

At the end of the nature walk I had my first Turkish coffee.

Coffee cooking over charcoal
With a side of Turkish Delight

The coffee was very strong, a lot like espresso with grounds at the bottom of the cup. It tasted great “full sugar”. A little bunny friend came to visit me in the cafe.

We did have a pool to relax in at our hotel.

Pappito found a James Paterson book at the hotel Library.
They like olive oil
And peppers

The next day we spent most of the day traveling. Cappadocia is only about an hour flight but ours was two hours delayed.

I believe in “silver linings” and found a good one at the airport….I learned how I could access the fancy longes: With my credit card — I can now enjoy multiple delays all over the world.

The first day in Cappadocia was consumed with the ride from the Airport. It’s like Sicily married Moab. Your brain and eyes are challenged to view the incredible sandstone dwellings scattered over the desert landscape or the narrow hilly streets that should all be one way but aren’t! Drivers do a lot of backing up to let cars/ vans/trucks and motorcycles pass.

We are staying in a cave hotel at the top of a cobblestone walkway—

Pappito likes it here but misses all the kitties in Instanbul

We spend two days exploring Cappadocia. Pappito and I are too afraid to do that hot air balloon thing.
