I arrived at my hotel in Istanbul Old Town with plenty of time to treat myself to a Turkish bath experience. WOW, was I unprepared for the pain, torture and embarrassment to follow. I think I was in denial and forgot to mention it in my first post.
The “treatment” started with my undressing and wrapping myself with the cloth provided. I was introduced to my personal non English speaking masseuse. She showed me to a marble chamber with a marble slab to lie down on and relax.
After about 10 minutes on the cold marble bed, I was led to the first “torture” room. I was stripped naked and she began aggressively scrubbing my whole buck naked body. This was after the “water-boarding” to get me wet and ready.
After the skin scraping I was water-boarded again and instructed to lie on a marble slab to get the bubble treatment…..and I mean bubble galore. The bubbles felt like a nice warm blanket until the Olympic fingers started…oh boy! The bubble treated included a head rub and shampoo.
I had not opened my eyes to see what was going on and kept
telling myself that this will rejuvenate me.
After being dried off I was led to my clothes and them deposited to a padded anti chamber and offered a peace offering of Turkish herb drink, Turkish tea and some Turkish Delight candy.

I did feel good after and boy was I CLEAN!
Barb-what a rejuvenating experience!
I enjoy these occasionally in NYC at the Turkish baths on 14th St in the East Village…. called a ‘plaka’ massage. I love them!
Your open mind is one of the things I love about you. ❤️Donna
