Spending Time in Seoul, South Korea

After a first leg to Detroit, the 15 hour flight went pretty well. We flew a route over Alaska then south to Korea.

The drive from the airport to my hotel took an hour and a half. Traffic was bad for most of the trip and I am grateful that I will never have to drive in Seoul.

It seems that the 10 million residents mostly live in apartment buildings.

The area around my hotel reminded me of NYC (little stores and restaurants) but amazingly quiet without horns blaring.

Being discombobulated from jet lag and time change all I wanted to do was find the famous Korean sweet and spicy chicken. I was successful and enjoyed a takeout chicken and pickled radish dinner in my room.

I only ate half—but woke up in the middle of the night and finished the rest….yummy….sweet, spicy, crispy——-worth the trip.

After a good night’s sleep and Korean style breakfast, I was challenged to find the spa where I had a scheduled massage. It’s not so easy to read the names in Korean but I succeeded with the helpful pictures.

The massage was deep tissue and great for my sore muscles.

I stopped for a Korean coffee latte on the way back to my hotel. This afternoon I plan to take a little walk and explore the area.

I join up with the little group of people I will be traveling with over these next few weeks.
