We flew from Ho Chi Minh City to Seim Reap. At the airport check in counter I found out the company I used to obtain my Visas had not gotten “multiple entry” stickers for my passport for Cambodia or Loas. It was extremely expensive to have Pinacle Travel Doucments obtain my Visas before I left the states only to have them get two out of three wrong!!! My tour guide was great—if I had been by myself I would have had an anxiety attack. It worked out and I got my visa on arrival without a picture in Cambodia. I am not too thrilled about the plane rides. It’s been a long time since I flew on a propeller plane:
I had time to get my picture for my Laos sticker since I would be in Seim Reap for three days. I went to a local photo shop and the development process took 30 minutes. I made friends with the clerks who were having a snack of bbq crickets. I joined in:

I had already been to the ancient temples in this city so I hung out at our hotel/resort.
Me and Buddha at the pool. I went to town one morning and had a foot massage (make sure you get the “sticks”) and lunch (beer is $.50).

We flew to Luang Prabang, a beautiful little city in Laos.
The next few days we explored the Mekong River with a longboat ride. I saw my first elephants:

and explored some caves. The next day we found some waterfalls and made the rounds at some temples–there are an incredible number of temples of all sizes with “zillions” of Buddha’s. I learned that the position of the Buddha’s hands represent different days of the week with separate meanings for each day:

We are off to Hanoi but I need to finish up with Luang Prabang in my next post.
