It probably helped that I had a really cool flat and cooked up some really good food. The weather held up and I was dressed just right.
I set off for Skansen in the morning. This is an amazing open-air museum. It was founded in 1891 and takes up the top of a big hill with 150 buildings, gardens, a zoo and lots of green space. There is a long escalator to deliver you to a world gone by. The employees dress in local time correct attire and work at industries of the day….like glass blowing, weaving, and wool spinning. This time of year the schools have a break and there were many school groups and me visiting. I would laugh out loud at the kids playing with the animals–an otter would swim up to the window and give “kisses” and roll over and over. There were little rides and playgrounds. A remarkable fairytale place:

I can imagine this place is just magnificent in the summer:

In the afternoon I went to visit Stockholm City Hall. This is where the Nobel Awards dinner and dancing is held on December 10. This room is for the dinner:
This room is for dancing (millions of tiny mosaic tiles with gold leaf):
There are many things I like about Stockholm and I would love to visit in the summer. Here are a few: 1- the tap water is delicious 2- there is a bus that goes from the train station to Ikea 3- there is no graffiti 4- wifi on trains 5- nice free lunch box on trains 6- the lower level of the train station is like a little city and 7- the train station looks like a palace ( sort of):
I am taking my last train to Oslo……….train riding is a wonderful way to go……
