This city is so amazing…so beautiful…so big….so little…..so old….so delicious!!!!! I know I just “feel” different when I am in Rome (this was my third visit) but I couldn’t put my finger on why. Maybe because I had never stayed in an apartment that was a block away from the Colosseum. The answer came to me on Sunday when I was at Mass–my existence is like a nanosecond compared to the life/age of this city. There is some monument, building or fountain around every corner to remind me how old it really is. I also feel like that when I ski the Rocky Mountains and visit the Grand Canyon.
Our first day we made it to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps. We walked a lot since our apartment was by the Colosseum:

Saturday we had a walking tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. When we finished at 11:15 the line to St Peter’s was 1/2 mile long. Our tour was great–our guide shared so many things we would not have known:

We were exhausted and had to take a nap before going inside the Colesseum

Sunday I went to Mass at this lovely old (everything here is old) church just across the street from our apartment:
