Short Trip to Brussels

On my way to Cologne, I had to change trains in Brussels so I decided to check it out.  I learned how to store my suitcase in a locker and headed for the city center.  The city was much prettier than I expected.  A lot of quaint streets, plenty of flowers and the smell of waffles permeated the air.  The square is surrounded by spectacular buildings: The Palace and City Hall.  Every two years the square is filled with begonias ( a tradition started by a begonia salesman).  Next August it will look like this again.Another popular attraction is the “Manneken Pis”.  It was much smaller than I expected—- check it out:Back to the train and on to Cologne.
