Landed in Edinburgh (pronounced “barra”)

The trip from Dublin was “slick”.  There are like a million people flying Ryan Air and everything went great.  I do have a correction:  it is Molly Bloom and for your information a grandmother I met while having some fish and chips told me that the business about no snakes, etc. is absolutely true.

Now onto Edinburgh. Some English fellows I met on the plane told me why Iceland is so expensive:  the people who live there pay very little taxes so their “take home” money is bigger. (I was wondering how they could afford to live there).

If you want to get your passport stamped “forget about it” there were immigration/custom booths but everyone must have been to lunch (or siesta).  I felt really good about taking the public bus to the city–I know this is an English speaking country but figuring things out is still hard.  I got the correct bus but when I told the friendly driver where I wanted to go he told me:  no way— there was a diversion.  I thought it better not to ask why but to ask what was my next best option. After the driver had to call out to me (twice) to get off I did.  WOW– I looked way up and saw the castle. It is way up there….pic does not do it justice.  I knew I was not too far off-track from my Airbnb so I went into a pub for a Guinness (need to wean off gradually).  This little pub is the oldest in Edinburgh and I happen upon it–how lucky is that? Must be that fairy dust.My new friends in the pub called a taxi for me and I was to my new “digs” in no time.  My host had a blueberry muffin waiting for me—- I think I am going to like this place.  Outside the front door and opposite to the castle are some big cliffs. The weather was nice..not too cold and it looks more cloudy in these pics that it was.
